More Money Wasted

By Mike Sullivan   The SUN  Aug: 29. 2011

A POLICE force has been blasted for spending £450,000 in two years leasing luxury cars for top cops. More than 30senior officers with KENT Police enjoy the use of jaguars, BMW, Audi's and Mercedes. Robert Oxley of the TaxPayer,s Alliance called it a "lavish perk."

"These flash cars aren,t for keeping criminals off the street or protecting the public, they are a luxury for well-paid officers."The public want the budget spent on bobbies on the beat." Kent police must save £50million over the next four years because of Government cutbacks.

The force defended the leasing's, saying:" This option is more cost-effective than paying officers the mileage rates for the use of their private vehicles." END REPORT:

PIF: Is this another way the Kent police waste money? are they not over paid enough to afford a car of their own? and why should'nt they use their cars? anybody who drives to work does not get an allowance so why should the police?  There must be enough cars in Medway as you often see them parked in the High St. or store parking bays while the officers are shopping, but that is only during their breaks we are told.

Is this an attempt to corruptly use police funds for personal use under the camouflage of necessary personal needs expenditure like the Met: did with the credit cards that cost millions again needed for personal reasons?

It's not to long ago that the Kent police "Lost,Had stolen, or Misplaced" over £50,000 worth of equipment and articles from stations, police cars or from an officer's person. I have found that Kent police are proficeint in losing their PNBs, documents, evidence and confiscated articles from secure areas within Police Stations , including articles awaiting forensic testing, in fact they don't always know who did a forensic test.
